| Is
SNAPPY SEALER a sealer or an oil? |
| SNAPPY SEALER
is the best of both worlds. Its a sealer in an exclusive teak
oil base. |
| |
| What's
the difference between a sealer and an oil? |
| Oil is a
liquid, while a sealer consists of polymers which are dry. |
| |
| Last
year I used an expensive and exclusive teak oil on my deck.
At the end of the season my deck turned dark and dirty looking
and was even blotchy in places. What did I do wrong? |
| Probably,
nothing. If you ever felt oil between your fingers you would
notice that while its slippery its also sticky. Try separating
your fingers if you're not sure. This adhesiveness causes
dirt from the environment to remain in the oil which than
saturates your deck. During rainfall, oil being a liquid washes
easily out from your deck leaving the dirt behind. In places
where the oil was absorbed unevenly blotches will remain where
the oil has been washed out. |
| |
| Is
there any advantage to using oil? |
| Yes. Its
easy to apply. Sealers, which are polymers have difficulty
adhering to teak which has a fatty surface. |
| |
|
Is there
any disadvantage to using a sealer?
|
| Yes. They
can be difficult to apply. Usually they must be applied in
several steps. First the teak must be treated with a chemical
which will enable the sealer to stick to the teak. Thereafter,
the final treatment with the sealer can begin. Some sealers
leave an unnatural and somewhat opaque appearance, others
are unnaturally glossy. SNAPPY SEALERhowever, being a combination
of both an oil and a sealer combines the best of both worlds!. |
